Title the top of your reference page "References." Use the same font you used elsewhere in your paper. Skip two to three lines.
Begin writing the citation for the articles you cited. The typical citation includes the author's last name written out out followed by the initials of his or her first and middle names, the year of publication, the title of the document, the publisher or name of journal, the volume number, and the page numbers . For example, "Berndt, T. J. (2002). Friendship quality and social development. Current Directions in Psychological Science, 11, 7-10."
Arrange each of the citations in alphabetical order, starting with the last name of the document's author. If there are two or more authors, start with the author that first appears on the document.
Place your references page in the back of your paper.
Perform a reference check when you are finished with the paper. Read through your paper looking for times when you cite a source. When you find one, check to see if the source is properly stated in your references page, and if the information in the text and the references matches.
