Type your term paper on standard 8-1/2-inch-by-11-inch paper. Use a 10- to 12-point font with 1-inch margins on all sides.
Insert a page header at the top of every page. Include the page number to the right and the title of your paper, in all capital letters, to the left.
Include the title of your paper, your name and the name of your school or organization on your title page. Type your title in upper and lowercase letters, starting on the upper half of the page. Beneath the title, include your name. Under your name, include your institutional affiliation. The header on your title page should include "RUNNING HEAD:" followed by the title of your paper. Exclude "RUNNING HEAD:" from the header on all other pages.
Write an abstract on a new page. Center the word, "Abstract," without special formatting, including quotation marks, on the page. Write a summary of your paper, which should be between 150 and 250 words.
Include optional keywords below your abstract. Center the text underneath your abstract, and type," Keywords," in italics, followed by by words that will help people find your paper in databases.
Double space all parts of your paper, including the title page, abstract page, text and reference list. Include in-text citations in your paper as close as possible to information you are borrowing from your sources. Include corresponding references in your reference list, which begins on a new page at the end of your paper.
