State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry is an entire school dedicated to environmental studies. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees at all levels. Several of college's regional sites are located in Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. The school has a history of partnering with Syracuse University, where students can take classes and live in the residence halls. The college offers degrees in environmental science, environmental resources, forest resources management and wildlife science.

The Environmental Sciences Department at Wisconsin's Northland College offers majors in biology, environmental chemistry, environmental geosciences and mathematical sciences. All Northland students, regardless of their major, can work in green work-study jobs where they learn about renewable energy, sustainable business practices and ecosystems.
