Camden County, Georgia, is located on the southeast coast of the state. It is home to about 48,277 people, as of a 2009 Census Bureau estimate. Camden County was one of the first counties formed in Georgia. It was created in 1777, and the county seat is in Woodbine. Other cities include Kings Bay, Kings Bay Base, Hopewell, Kingsland, Spring Bluff, Waverly and St. Marys.
Altamaha Technical College has a campus in Camden County. It is located in Kingsland. It offers a number of associate degrees, diplomas and certificates in areas such as criminal justice technology, accounting, drafting technology and early childhood care and education. The College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick is located outside of Camden County, but it provides courses to students at its Camden Center. Camden is the home to the Culinary Arts program of the College of Coastal Georgia. The Camden campus in Kingsland also provides courses in a variety of other subjects such as business, and it is equipped with chemistry and biology laboratories and a full-service library.
Other colleges that offer courses at the Kings Bay Navy Campus are Valdosta State University, Brenau College and Troy State University.
