List of Smaller Colleges in Georgia

With the many colleges and universities available to choose from in the state of Georgia, some students may prefer a smaller, more personalized setting for their education. To that end, there are numerous four-year colleges in Georgia with total enrollments of under 2,500 students.
  1. Oglethorpe University

    • This college in Atlanta has an enrollment of just over 1,000 students and offers bachelor's degrees in fields of study that include economics, art, biology, philosophy, environmental studies and several foreign languages, among other majors. In addition, the school offers a master of arts in Teaching (MAT) in Early Childhood Education.

    Reinhardt University

    • Located northwest of Atlanta in Waleska, this school of about 1,100 students is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Approximately 45 bachelor's degree programs are offered, including history, music, art, communication, public relations and religion. Three master's degrees are also offered (MBA, MAT in Early Childhood Education, and Music), as well as associate degrees in fire management, pre-nursing and criminal justice. A sister campus is located in Alpharetta. This college officially gained university status on June 1, 2010.

    Piedmont College

    • With its main campus in Demorest, Georgia, and an additional campus in Athens, this school enrolls just over 2,000 students. Undergraduate programs include art, education, business, theatre, physics, political science, journalism and more. Several master's degrees are offered in the fields of business and education.

    Brewton-Parker College

    • Located in Mt. Vernon, this faith-based school enrolls just over 1000 students. Undergraduate degrees are offered in fields of study which include business, education, sociology, mathematics, drama, Christian studies and more.

    Agnes Scott College

    • Located in Decatur near Atlanta, this is a liberal arts college for women, enrolling approximately 900 female students. Undergraduate programs include music, dance, neuroscience, anthropology, astrophysics, economics and history; a post-baccalaureate certificate in pre-med is also offered. This school was named #2 in US News and World Report's "Top Up-and-Coming" colleges for 2010. (See Reference 5)
