Christian Colleges for Aviation

Aviation schools have changed through the years, but these programs are designed to meet the requirements of those who have a love of flying. Many schools now provide opportunities for students to acquire various degrees, and develop these skills in a Christian setting.
  1. San Diego Christian College

    • San Diego Christian College, founded in 1970 and located in suburban San Diego, is a private, evangelical Christian college. The school is accredited by the Senior Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Here, a close relationship is promoted between the faculty and students and the teaching environment reflects God's word and teachings. Fifteen major programs are offered. A Bachelor of Science is offered in the fields of Aviation, Business and Liberal Studies, among others. Online courses are offered through an Adult Professional Studies program for working adults or those needing flexibility in their schedule. This provides an opportunity for students to acquire Baccalaureate degrees in Business Management, Christian Management and Human Development. A master schedule is provided to students to guide their steps through the class selection after determining a major. Internships are available.

    Central Christian College of Kansas

    • Located 60 miles north of Wichita, this four-year college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Associate degrees and bachelor's degrees are offered here in drama, art, biology, chemistry, physics and criminal justice. A two-year Aviation General Studies degree program is available for those who desire to fly commercially (corporate), for the airline industry or as a private pilot. Acquiring this degree in 2011 requires 45 to 50 credit hours of general education courses, and 33 credit hours of aviation courses.

    Prairie Bible Institute

    • This institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada is made up of three colleges which include Prairie College of Applied Art and Technologies, Prairie Bible College and Prairie School of Mission Aviation. Here you will learn God's word, develop an understanding of His message, and receive encouragement to transport it throughout the world on various missions. The aviation program offered at the Prairie School of Mission Aviation is a two-year program, offers an Associates of Arts degree, requires 61 credits, operates year round and accepts up to 25 new students annually. Programs are taught by experienced staff members and missionaries. The aviation school also offers training in these areas: Commercial Pilot's License, Private Pilot's License, Tailwheel Aircraft Training and Mountain Navigation Training. Students learn to handle aircraft by training in Cessna 172s, Citabrias, C182RGs and Piper Senecas. Upon completion of the program, students will have completed 225 hours of flight training.

    Moody Bible Institute

    • Moody Bible Institute in Spokane, Washington is in partnership with Spokane Community College. Two degrees are offered, and the school offers a Bachelor of Science in Mission Aviation Technology. The program uses general studies and the Bible to prepare those interested in aviation to use aviation technologies and various missions to spread God's word. On completion of the Airframe and Powerplant program, an Associate of Applied Science degree is issued.
