Colleges Within 100 Miles of New London, Ohio

New London, Ohio, is in the north central portion of the state. The region has a selection of rural community colleges and universities within 100 miles of the city. Community colleges offer two-year associate's degree programs and often provide additional educational choices through vocational and technical degrees. The larger cities of Cleveland, Akron/Canton and Toledo surround New London with some additional community-college choices in addition to universities offering four-year degree programs and studies at the graduate level.
  1. Rural Community Colleges

    • North Central State College in Mansfield, located 26 miles south of New London, offers 60 associate's degree and certificate programs in health, business, engineering and public service. The school also provides custom workforce training. Thirty miles northeast, in Elyria, Lorain County Community College allows students to obtain bachelor's and master's degrees from a choice of eight universities through its university partnership. At Marion Technical College in Mount Vernon, 57 miles south of New London, an array of associate degree and certificate programs await in areas such as information, nursing, medical sciences, radiography and physical-therapist technologies. Central Ohio Technical College, approximately 80 miles south in Newark, has a partnership with the Ohio State University Newark and offers technology training in a variety of areas including engineering, industrial and business technology and public safety.

    Cleveland

    • In the Cleveland metropolitan area, multiple Cuyahoga Community College campuses provide over 140 career and technical programs. As Ohio's largest community college, the school also offers over 600 noncredit professional development and workforce courses. The main campus of Cuyahoga Community College is located approximately 60 miles northeast of New London. Cleveland State University, located 57 miles northeast of New London, offers two-year and four-year programs in a number of areas including law. The school also has a college of Human Services and Urban Affairs, and research centers in the areas of aerospace technology, bioethics and leadership development.

    Akron/Canton

    • The University of Akron, approximately 55 miles east of New London, offers 300 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The university also conducts research in polymers, bio-materials, medical devices and nanotechnology. In addition, students assist area start-up companies through the school's entrepreneurial program. Stark State College has nine satellite campuses in the area in addition to the main campus in North Canton, which is 18 miles south of Akron. The college provides over 230 associate-degree programs, one-year programs and certificates. The U.S. Department of Education deemed Stark State College the fastest-growing two-year public college in the country in 2010.

    Toledo

    • Approximately 80 miles northwest of New London is the University of Toledo. This school offers an array of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The university also provides advanced education with 90 master's and 17 doctoral programs. Students interested in the health-care fields are provided health programs through the school's Health Science Campus. This campus, which is part of the University of Toledo Medical Center, contains a level 1 trauma center and orthopedics center. The school also has a variety of athletic programs including football, basketball, track, swimming, volleyball and baseball.
