Christian Universities in Northern Illinois & Southern Wisconsin

Most Christian universities in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin are located in the urban areas of Milwaukee and Chicago. The majority of these universities are affiliated with the Catholic Church. However, some are Protestant and these predominantly belong to the Lutheran church. All offer a wide range of degree options and some host divinity schools as well.
  1. Cardinal Stritch University

    • Cardinal Stritch is a Catholic university founded in 1937 by the Sisters of Saint Mary of Assisi. The school's mission is to embody core Franciscan values such as compassion and peacemaking. Located in Milwaukee, it is the largest Franciscan university in the U.S. The school offers more than 60 fields of study.

    Concordia University-Wisconsin

    • Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Concordia University-Wisconsin is a liberal arts college. The university offers 55 undergraduate fields of study. The campus is 15 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee. It is one of 10 schools associated with the Concordia University system, which is owned and run by the The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. The university was originally founded by Wisconsin Lutherans as Concordia College in 1881.

    Trinity International University

    • Trinity International was founded in 1897 in Deerfield, Illinois. The university's educational philosophy adheres to the belief that all wisdom lies in Jesus Christ. As of 2011, the university had nearly 3,000 students. The campus hosts both a law school and divinity school. Extension schools associated with Trinity are located throughout the Midwest. Both Florida and southern California have sister campuses.

    University of St. Francis

    • The University of St. Francis is located in Joliet, Illinois. The university offers a selection of 40 different majors for undergraduates. The university also offers adult education completion programs, which allow returning students to finish their education. St. Francis was first established in 1920, and it's affiliated with the Franciscan Order of the Catholic Church. It's located 40 miles southwest of Chicago and, as of 2011, it had roughly 1,700 enrolled undergraduates.
