List of Universities of Southern California

Southern California features many attractions such as Universal Studios, Disneyland and incredibly beautiful beaches. The universities in this scenic portion of the West Coast such as UCLA, San Diego State University and Pepperdine University offer a wide variety of courses to its students.
  1. University of California Los Angeles

    • Located in the area of Westwood California, the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) was founded in 1919. This prestigious Southern California university has the highest average of annual applicants than almost any other U.S. college and was ranked as the 16th best university in America by U.S. News and World Report magazine in 2010. UCLA offers a wide range of courses focusing on the arts, including film production, visual arts, architectural design and world art and culture design. Some of the more popular courses offered at UCLA include the civil and environmental engineering class, the human complex systems course and the mechanical and aerospace engineering class.

    Pepperdine University

    • Featuring a large campus area that overlooks the Pacific Ocean in the Malibu area of Southern California, Pepperdine University has six graduate campuses that focus on teaching its students business management, psychology and art sciences. The Seaver College that is also located at Pepperdine, offers a liberal arts education to its graduating students and natural science, communications and religion studies are all offered at this section of the university's Malibu campus.

    University of San Diego

    • Originally opened in 1952 as the San Diego College for Women, the University of San Diego was merged with Maher Hall and was renamed in 1972. This large Southern California university overlooks the Mission Bay area and is two miles away from downtown San Diego. This university offers 60 degrees in the master's, bachelor's and doctoral levels in such studies as dramatic arts, business law, nursing and health sciences, supply chain management, early childhood special education and communication studies. San Diego University also offers bachelor's degrees in marine science as well as doctorate degrees in electrical engineering.
