At Milligan College in northeast Tennessee, you can choose from many courses of study that will earn you a bachelor's degree. Milligan sits on 181 acres just minutes from Johnson City, in the Tri-City area of Kingsport, Bristol and Johnson City. The college places an emphasis on religious studies for those wanting to work in Christian ministry. Emmanuel School of Religion overlooks the mountains of eastern Tennessee in Johnson City, and is a post graduate seminary college. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree of study from an accredited college or university and must be seeking a degree in religious studies. The college offers a Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, Religion and a Doctor of Ministry. The studies are concentrated in the Old and New Testaments, church history and doctrine. Once complete, your career could take you into the mission field, Christian counseling or education, or pastoring a church.
Milligan College and Emmanuel School of Religion combined graduation ceremonies on the Milligan campus in 2010. Emmanuel School of Religion honored 18 students with post graduate degrees. The graduating class was comprised of students from across the United States, Brazil and Zimbabwe. Milligan College enrolls 1,000 students each semester; they most reside on campus. Both campuses have active campus ministries and Christian-based student organizations.
Fees for the 2010-11 academic year at Emmanuel School of Religion was $390 per credit hour, while Milligan College tuition was $360 per college hour. Both colleges offer merit or need-based financial aid packages as well as scholarships and grants. While deciding to pursue a master's degree or doctorate program is an important decision, both campuses have committees that work to make the financial commitment less burdensome.
