The University of New Mexico is a moderately selective public university. Students must take an ACT or SAT exam for admittance. Popular majors include nursing, business management, general studies, biology, English and Spanish. The University of Mexico's dorm rooms house almost 2500 students, and it has a campus daycare for commuter students with children.
The Albuquerque campus offers programs in social work to accommodate non-traditional and distance-learning students. The social work major focuses on nonprofit management and clinical practice. Most students at the Albuquerque campus are adults with full-time jobs and family responsibilities. The school has day, evening and weekend classes to better accommodate a working adult's schedule.
A public school with open enrollment. Truck and bus driver certification, business management, electrician and accounting are some of the most common majors and certification programs. High school students can receive AP credits and take classes before graduation. Job placement, career counseling and daycare are a few services provided to students.
The main NMSU campus is located in Las Cruces, but has a center in Albuquerque to better serve non-traditional students in northern and central New Mexico. The Albuquerque campus is used for student and alumni events, recruiting and classroom space. Students can pursue master's degrees in social work and criminal justice from the Albuquerque campus.
