Nursing Universities in Arizona

To become a registered nurse in Arizona, you must complete a certification or associate program at a vocational school or community college; or attend a four-year university or college and earn a bachelor's degree. With a bachelor's degree, a registered nurse is more likely to be promoted to a management or a supervisory position within the clinic or hospital unit. In Arizona, there are several universities that offer a degree program in nursing.
  1. Arizona State University

    • Arizona State University is located in Tempe and offers a nursing program. Students who complete the program and earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing will be ready to work as registered nurses. Applicants to the nursing program must have a 3.0 GPA or score 500 on their GED and have either a 1040 SAT or 22 ACT score to be considered for admission. Transfer students must have a higher GPA of 3.50. Admission is competitive and you should apply earlier than the application deadline.

    University of Arizona

    • The University of Arizona, located in Tucson, offers both a regular degree program in nursing and an

      accelerated program. The regular program will take at least four years to complete; the accelerated program will take 14 months to finish. Either program will prepare you to become a registered nurse. Those that complete the regular degree program will start nursing-related coursework in their junior year after they've completed their general education and prerequisite coursework. The accelerated program is only available to those that have already earned a bachelor's degree and wish to now complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

    Grand Canyon University

    • Grand Canyon University, located in Phoenix, admits approximately 30 students each fall and spring into their nursing program. All nursing students are divided into groups of 10 or less and study nursing under the direction of a nursing faculty member. The college of nursing offers both a four-year degree program and an accelerated program for registered nurses who are already licensed but would like to complete their bachelor's degree.

    Northern Arizona University

    • Northern Arizona University in located in Flagstaff. The university offers four different degree programs for nursing students: a regular degree program, an accelerated option, a program for registered nurses that want to earn a bachelor's degree and a program to train Native Americans to become nurses. In addition, Northern Arizona offers a study-abroad option in Australia, Ghana or the United Kingdom where students will study nursing in a foreign country. They also have a special field service program in Kenya where nursing students assess and analyze public health problems in that country.
