Greenville, North Carolina has several colleges for those looking to further their education. There are public universities, community colleges and even a cosmetology college. Each school offers different programs and opportunities to students so be sure to research thoroughly which school is right for you. Some schools have athletic programs while others do not.   1. East Carolina University

    • East Carolina University offers degree programs at an undergraduate and graduate level. Programs of study include arts, medicine, nursing, education, business, computer science, social work, accounting, health sciences and more. East Carolina University has several research facilities available to students, including the Pitt County Memorial Hospital which is a teaching hospital for students at the Brody School of Medicine. East Carolina University is a NCAA Division 1-A school for athletics. Financial aid is available through federal aid, state aid and scholarships offered through the university.

    Mitchell's Hair Styling Academy

    • Mitchell's Hair Styling Academy has study programs in cosmetology, aesthetics and manicuring for students. The cosmetology program puts students through 300 hours of classroom time, followed by 1200 hours of hands-on instruction and experience. The aesthetics course combines 60 hours of classroom time with 540 hours of hands-on training, while the manicure program is 300 hours of hands-on instruction. Applicants are required to complete a personal interview before being admitted to the school. Mitchell's Hair Styling Academy is a nationally accredited cosmetology program and is therefore eligible for federal and state financial aid.

    Pitt Community College

    • Students at Pitt Community College can earn an associate's degree in arts, English, business administration, construction and industrial technology, fine arts, health sciences, nursing, legal science and public services. Financial aid is available from state and federal financial aid programs. Financial advisors can also help students find additional financial aid opportunities. The community college does not have athletic programs. Students need to take a placement test and meet with an admissions counselor for a personal interview before they can enroll in the college.

    Miller Motte College

    • Miller Motte College is a technical school with several campuses, one of which is in Greenville, North Carolina. The school requires applicants to complete a personal interview and take a scholastic exam before being admitted. Federal financial aid is available to students, as well as some state financial aid. The Greenville campus of Miller Motte College offers study courses in cosmetology, dental assisting, massage therapy, network administration and security, medical assisting, and medical billing and coding.
