Information technology (IT) management melds computer technical expertise with business management. This type of management in a corporation includes managing computer assets, such as computer hardware, systems and personnel, as well as the basic management functions like budgeting, organizing and staffing issues.

Upon completion of this degree, the individual commonly works as a supervisor of office administration, project manager or supervises the technology operations in a corporation. The coursework not only includes advance computer programming, but also business management courses which provide the student with the skills required to run a department.

    Doctorate Degree

    • A doctorate degree in IT management is the premier degree for IT managers. To complete this degree, students must possess a bachelor and master degree. The program generally takes two years to complete. Most individuals with this degree work as executives in corporations, such as vice-presidents of operations, administration or manufacturing. The degree is also used as a stepping stone to becoming a qualified professor at a college or university.
