Ferris State University offers a Bachelor of Science in business with a major in professional golf management that was established with participation from the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA). This program is comprised of general education requirements in business and marketing, in addition to specialized courses in golf course maintenance, merchandising, golf club repair, golf teaching and event planning. Students also receive hands-on training through a five-semester internship at a golf facility that is supervised by a PGA-certified professional. The university also owns and maintains an on-campus 18-hole golf course that is used as a training laboratory for students.

Penn State University offers a Bachelor of Science in recreation, park and tourism management with a further concentration in golf management. This program is officially recognized by the PGA. In addition to general education coursework in the liberal arts, science and math, students are instructed in accounting, small business operations, financial analysis, turf grass management, the administration and management of sports clubs, golf club repair and design, marketing, merchandising, tournament operations and human resource management. Extensive practical work experience is also required through professional internships.

A Bachelor of Science degree with a major in professional golf management is offered by Florida Gulf Coast University. This program is also formally recognized by the PGA. It is 4 1/2 years in duration and includes a 16-month internship that provides students with valuable hands-on experience prior to graduation. With over 150 golf courses in the local area, students also have multiple opportunities to work, intern and play at a variety of professional facilities. Students complete general education courses in communication, math, natural sciences, social sciences and the humanities, followed by specialized coursework in golf course management, golf player development, accounting, marketing, law and regulations, merchandising, turfgrass management and the design and programming of resort, hospitality and recreation facilities.
