Accelerated Ph.D. Degrees

An advanced degree requires a great investment, both of time and money. Institutions of higher learning understand this, and are trying to offer programs that cater to the needs of diverse students. To accommodate financial constraints and the challenges of earning a degree while raising a family or working, some institutions are offering accelerated Ph.D. programs.
  1. Doctor of Jurisprudence

    • Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, is a prestigious school which offers an accelerated JD degree. Typically the required length of study for this degree is three years, but at Northwestern the degree can be earned in two years.

    Doctor of Pharmacy

    • The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Services offers an accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy degree at both the Worcester and Manchester campuses. This strenuous and full-time program can be completed in 34 months.

Doctor of Optometry and Master's in Vision Science

    • The School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in Canada offers an accelerated doctoral program for a Doctorate of Optometry and Master of Vision Science. This joint degree can be completed more quickly as part of this program than completing both degrees separately.
