Honolulu Community College has been a fully accredited college since 1970. The school provides special assistance to students wishing to transfer to the University of Hawaii to obtain a four-year baccalaureate degree. The school offers elements of Asian, American, and Pacific cultural influences which come together for a unique college experience. The areas of study which Honolulu Community College is known for are engineering technology, photography, mechanics and commercial art. The school does not have an athletics program. Graduates of any United States high school are eligible to apply.

Windward focuses on liberal arts degrees as well as humanities, language arts, mathematics, business, natural sciences and social science. Leeward Community College is located in Pearl City, Hawaii, approximately 14 miles from Honolulu. The school was founded in 1968 and offers an unobstructed view of Pearl Harbor. The school offers baseball, softball and soccer varsity sports teams. Courses of study specialization include liberal arts, automotive technology, television production, culinary arts and business. There are a total of 63 certificate and associate degrees offered.
