Delta College opened in September 1961 to serve Bay, Midland and Saginaw Counties. It has one main campus and three off-campus learning centers. Delta College offers more than 50 transfer programs and 100 career degree and certificate programs. Popular programs in the 2009-2010 academic year included information security and technology, wind turbine technology, art and design, digital film production, medical office professions, welding engineering technology, physical therapist assistant and technical writing. Delta College also introduced a new global peace studies program in 2010, offering both a certificate of achievement and an associate degree.

Mott Community College serves Genesee County, immediately southeast of Saginaw County. It opened in 1923 as Flint Junior College. In 1969, voters converted Flint Junior College into a countywide college, Genesee Community College. When philanthropist and supporter C.S. Mott died in 1973 at age 97, Genesee Community College was renamed Charles Stewart Mott Community College. Mott Community College's programs include occupational associate degrees, transferable associate degrees, certificates of achievement and alternative training preparation. It introduced four new certificates of achievement and a new associate in applied science degree for the 2010-2011 academic year. They are an associate in applied science degree in media arts and entertainment technology, a certificate of achievement in media arts and entertainment technology, a certificate of achievement in electrical technology for apprentice electricians, a certificate of achievement in hybrid technology and repair and a certificate of achievement in sustainable construction.

Mid Michigan Community College, opened in September 1968, serves Clare and Gladwin Counties, immediately northwest of the Delta College district. It offers over 60 degrees programs, including transfer programs designed for students intending to transfer credits to baccalaureate degree-granting institutions. It also offers career programs to provide students with the necessary skills and related knowledge to qualify for skilled, technical and semi-professional positions and general studies programs to allow students not interested in a four-year degree an opportunity to receive educational experiences in a variety of subject-matter areas. In 2010, Mid Michigan Community College introduced a new program in electrical apprentice training.
