Missouri Colleges That Use Funding From DESE

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is a branch of the Missouri State Board of Education. DESE's main jobs are to govern the state's public education system, develop state curriculum standards, and ensure that all students get a free, appropriate education. Part of DESE's responsibility is to provide funding to state, community and technical colleges. State colleges receive most of their funding from state funds while community and technical colleges operate mainly on tax money with some contributions from DESE. Private colleges and universities do not receive money from DESE.

Some community colleges only offer two-year associate degrees. The Missouri Community College Association offers a complete list of community colleges in the state.
