Colleges With Nursing Schools

Nurses are valued members of any health-care team. Nursing is a career centered on providing health care needs for children, childbearing families, elderly and adults in a variety of settings. Many colleges across the United States offer schools of nursing to prepare students for this demanding career.
  1. University of Detroit Mercy

    • The University of Detroit Mercy, Michigan's largest Catholic university, offers the McAuley School of Nursing. The undergraduate nursing program focuses on liberal arts and sciences and includes a cooperative education component: students have to complete two cooperative assignments at clinical placements. Students can obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an RN-BSN Completion degree. Both programs are available online and on campus. McAuley Nursing School has an extensive graduate program for those who have obtained their BSN: Master of Science in Nursing for Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN in Nursing Education with a Clinical Nurse Specialization in Adult Health, MSN for Clinical Nurse Leader and MSN in Health Systems Management. There are also a variety of post-bachelor's certificates and a post-master's certificate, in addition to a Doctorate of Nursing Practice.

    Georgia Southern University

    • Georgia Southern University is a Carnegie Doctoral-Research university in Statesboro, Georgia. In 1990, Georgia Southern University became the fifth university to be established in the university system of Georgia. Its School of Nursing is part of the university's College of Health and Human Sciences. The school offers undergraduate degrees including a BSN, Licensed Practical Nurse, BSN for licensed nurses who want to obtain their BSN, and an RN-BSN Completion program. Georgia Southern University's School of Nursing also offers an MSN program with Internet and hybrid course delivery, a post-MSN certificate and a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a program that is offered completely online.

    University of Indianapolis

    • The University of Indianapolis is affiliated with the Methodist Church. With a student population of close to 5,000, the university has a School of Nursing that offers a wide range of degrees. Students can obtain an Associate of Science in Nursing. The ASN for the Licensed Practical Nurse program allows students who are already licensed practical nurses to earn credits by examination. The nursing school also offers a BSN and RN-BSN Completion. A variety of graduate programs are also available. The Accelerated Master's Program is available to career-changers who wish to become nurses with a specialization in Nursing and Health Systems Leadership and have a degree in another field. Students with a BSN can also earn a Nurse Management Certificate, Clinical Educator Certificate, MSN, or a Doctor of Nursing Practice.

    The College of New Jersey

    • The College of New Jersey was founded in 1855. Located in Ewing, New Jersey, the first bachelor's nursing class was offered in 1970. The college has its own School of Nursing, Health and Exercise Science that offers a standard assortment of undergraduate degrees: BSN and RN to BSN Completion. Its graduate nursing programs are more extensive. The MSN program offers four specializations: Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Leader. Registered nurses with a non-nursing Bachelor of Science or Arts can take part in the Bridge Program to the MSN. Post-master's options include Nurse Practitioner Certification and Family Nurse Practitioner programs for Specialty Nurse Practitioner.
