San Diego State University is a four-year university with over 20,000 students. Business is the most popular major, followed by psychology. Asians are the third largest ethnic group, both in enrollment and in graduation rates. White Non-Hispanic is the largest, followed by Hispanic and Latino. San Diego State University also has a number of Asian student groups, including the Asian Alliance for Theater, the Asian Pacific Islander Social Work Student Association, the Asian Pacific Student Alliance and the Association for Asia Pacific Studies.
The University of San Diego is a private, Roman Catholic college. There are about 8,000 students on campus who can choose from 39 bachelor's programs and 42 graduate level programs. Asian students make up 6 percent of the undergraduates and 14 percent of law school students, making them the largest minority group in both categories. The University of San Diego also offers a minor in Asian Studies and an Asian Studies emphasis in their Interdisciplinary Humanities major.
Point Loma Nazarene University is a private school that was founded in 1902. It offers over 50 undergraduate degrees and their total enrollment is 3,500 students. In keeping with other area schools, 6 percent of the undergraduate student body is Asian. Hispanic students make up 14 percent of undergraduates and white students make up 72 percent. Point Loma also offers the Asian Student Union, a group that celebrates and learns about Asian culture.
University of California at San Diego has over 27,000 students. U.S. News and World Report has ranked UC San Diego as the seventh best public school in the country. They have several Nobel Prize-winning faculty members. About 44 percent of students are Asian, which is a much larger percentage than other area schools. Understandably, UC San Diego has a number of Asian student groups, including Asian Women in Business and the Asian and Pacific-Islander Student Alliance.
