Located in Hinterzarten, Birklehof (birklehof.de) is an independent linguistic and arts boarding school. Class sizes are from 10 to 24 pupils. Approximately 170 students board at the school, with each pupil either having his own room or sharing with another student. Subjects taught at Birklehof include history, French, music, math, biology, art and geography.
Students attending Schule Schloss Salem (salem-net.de/en/about-salem.html) are assigned a mentor to guide them through their studies and help them become accustomed to boarding life. Salem is an accredited grammar school located in Baden-Werttenberg. Students attend classes Monday through Saturday, learning math, science, English and history. Educational assistants live with pupils throughout the school year.
St George's School (stgeorgesschool.de/) is a British international boarding school. Situated in Cologne, St. George's School allows students to board full-time, on a weekly basis or for a short period. A matron and head of staff live with boarders. Each student is allocated a tutor to monitor her academic progress. Students have the opportunity to learn through private music classes, attend dance, running, fitness and rugby clubs or take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
Situated on the Heiligensee waterfront in Potsdam, the International School Berlin-Postdam (bbis.de/content/general/index.htm) has a pavilion, a sports hall, science labs, computer labs and student lounges. Black Forest Academy (bfacademy.com) is an international Christian school located in Kandern. Students are taught core subjects which include Bible studies, English and foreign languages. Dorm parents live with boarders to carry out maintenance, cooking, laundry and health care tasks. There are eight dormitories, each housing between 10 and 24 students. Pupils have access to a library, five private music rooms, a tennis court, two art studios and a home economics center. The academy hosts weekly chapel services and a Sunday school.
Landesschule Pforta (landesschule-pforta.de/) is a co-ed boarding school in Leipzig which specializes in languages, music and science. Students choose one of these subjects to study alongside core curriculum classes. A variety of languages are available to learn, including German, Russian, Spanish, Greek and Latin. Music students are required to join the school choir and are taught to play an instrument. Vocal coaching and lessons in music theory and history are also given. Pupils who study natural science learn astronomy, biology, computer science and physics. Throughout their science studies students are taken on excursions and have the option of attending workshops and taking part in regional science contests.
