If the interview is conducted with you or one of the collaborating authors in person, APA format does not require you to include the interview on your reference list. Instead, the interview is only cited in text. After referencing the interview within the paper, place the words personal communication and the date the interview was conducted in parenthesis after the reference. For example:
J. Furgerson also explained how to use APA format (personal communication, May 5, 2015).
Unlike personal interviews, interviews from a television broadcast must be cited on the reference list. Begin by locating all of the pertinent information about the broadcast. You need to know the name of the producer, the date, the full name of the broadcast, the location of the production company and the name of the production company.
Once you have found all of the needed information, you can format it according to APA guidelines. Place the last name of the producer, followed by a comma, then the first and middle initial. Next the word producer is put in parenthesis and capitalized followed by a period. Next is the year of the episode in parenthesis followed by a period. After that, place the full name of the broadcast in italics followed by a period. Only capitalize the first word in the title. Finally place the location of the production company, then a semicolon, then the name of the production company, followed by a period. For example:
Smith, A.K. (Producer). (2011). Full name of the television broadcast in italics. Hollywood: full name of the production company.
Interviews in print sources must also be cited on your reference list. Begin by locating all of the pertinent information about the print source. You need to know the name of the author, the date, the full title of the article, the full name of the print source, the location of the publisher and the name of the publishing company.
