Visit the Rent-A-Text website and use their search box to see if your school uses the Rent-A-Text program.
Click on "Textbooks and Course Materials" if you would like to order your books online. If you choose to go to your campus bookstore, look for "For Rent" tags on books available through the Rent-A-Text program.
Select a program, term, department, course number and section if you decide to order online. Books that are available through the program will give you the option to rent as opposed to buy. Some of your textbooks may not be available to rent, depending on how popular the title is.
Click "Add to cart and add another course" if you have more books to purchase. When you are finished, click "Add to cart and go to cart."
Log in to your account if you already have one. If you don't have an account, set one up by entering your information. If you are purchasing at your bookstore, you will be asked to sign up for your account while there and confirm it through email later. Once your account is created, you will be taken to your cart. When you're ready, click "Checkout."
Complete a rental agreement if you have not filled one out already. You'll need to provide a credit card to use as collateral in case you don't return a book or need to be charged for extra wear when you return it. While minor wear and highlighting are allowed, if the book becomes unusable, you may have to pay additional fees.
Click "Continue Checkout" and choose to ship or pick up your books. Enter your payment information and submit your order. You will need to provide a credit card if purchasing online, but in person you can use cash, check, credit card, campus cards or financial aid.
Return your books on time to avoid fees. If you decide to keep your book past the semester, you will either be charged based on the book's condition if you're within the store's refund period or you will pay an additional 10% on top of the book's price.
