How to Cite an ERIC Document

The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) is a government-sponsored online database that collects journal articles and other documents related to education. Documents other than journal articles collected in ERIC are referred to as "ERIC documents." If you use an ERIC document for a term paper, you must cite that document in a reference list at the end of your paper. Both the Modern Language Association (MLA) and the American Psychological Association (APA) set guidelines for the correct citation of ERIC documents. The exact format your citation should take depends on which citation style you follow.

List the last name and first name of the author. For example:

      Jones, Eli.

"The Cost of College and the Quality of an American Education."

      U.S. Department of Education
