Universities That Offer Tuition Reimbursement

A college education can be costly. There is a finance option present, helping to subsidize your expenses, known as tuition reimbursement. Generally, students pay the first semester or term of classes in full before they are eligible for this financial option from their employers. This financial option is only available to full-time employees. Depending on the university or college, tuition reimbursement may be available.

    • American Intercontinental University (AIU) offers tuition reimbursement to its students. It can be self-administered --- where your employer pays a portion of the cost, and you pick up the rest --- or direct-billed, paid to the institution directly from the employer. There are no payment requests until three weeks, post-semester. This gives your employer time to receive your grades. American Intercontinental University has three campuses within the United States --- Weston, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; and Houston, Texas. There is an international campus in London, England. If you prefer distance-learning, AIU offers online courses as well. This institution offers associate, bachelor's and Master's degree programs.

    John Hopkins University

    • John Hopkins University offers tuition reimbursement for staff and faculty members in the Baltimore, Maryland, area --- which is up to $2,000 per calendar year. It also offers reimbursement to staff and faculty members who do not live or work in the Baltimore, Maryland, area --- up to $5,250 per calendar year. The tuition reimbursement program is only for those staff and faculty members who are taking classes outside of John Hopkins University. The program has a 90-day waiting period. The supervisor of the program may waive the waiting period if there are class dates quintessential to the course --- prior to or during the scheduled waiting period. Payments will be made directly through your payroll.

    Yale University

    • Yale University offers a similar program for its employees. They must be part-time, working 20 hours or more --- and should be employees at the beginning and ending of their courses. Employees take all courses outside their working hours, and they should comply with the State of Connecticut's accreditation requirements --- whether the courses are inside or outside the State of Connecticut. his program will not reimburse for workshops, seminars, or conferences. The maximum for clerical, technical, service or maintenance employees is $4,600. The maximum for managerial and professional employees is $5,250. Employees receive reimbursement through their paycheck using direct deposit. Yale University is part of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

    Suffolk University

    • Located in Boston, Massachusetts, Suffolk University has a tuition reimbursement program that is available only when you enroll for consecutive semesters, starting with the fall semester. Students have to complete their first semester to be eligible to register for future classes without payment and be eligible for tuition reimbursement through their employer. All students taking part in the program will be required to sign a promissory note, validating the intent of payment. If the payment is not made timely, the students' accounts will be charged late fees. Also, the students will be ineligible for future registration without payment.
