Kappa Beta Delta Scholarships

Kappa Beta Delta is a national honor society that was established to recognize business students at 2-year colleges for achieving academic excellence. The colleges must be ACBSP-accredited schools. The ACBSP is the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. In order to be invited to join Kappa Beta Delta, the student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and rank in the upper 20 percent of business students. Kappa Beta Delta awards the Andrew V. Stevenson Memorial Scholarship to business students who exhibit intelligence, leadership, character and potential.
  1. Andrew V. Stevenson Merit Scholarship

    • This scholarship is given in honor of Andrew V. Stevenson, who was the Associate Director of ACBSP. He worked with associate-degree schools right up until his death, and he was one of the founders of Kappa Beta Delta. The scholarship is awarded to five students annually in the amount of $1,000. The application deadline is April 1.

    Requirements

    • In order to qualify for the selection process, the student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be an inducted member of Kappa Bea Delta for at least one quarter. The scholarship applicant must also show a history of community service and be actively enrolled in college courses at the time of application.

    Application Process

    • The application process for this Kappa Beta Delta scholarship is quite extensive. The student must first complete the application for the scholarship. Applicants must then obtain a college transcript in a sealed envelope for review by the scholarship committee. The student must write an autobiographical essay which outlines personal and academic achievements, along with a description of any community service the student has completed. The Kappa Beta Delta chapter adviser from the student's school must submit a letter of recommendation to the application committee; and the applicant must also compile a list of personal goals for the future. The application package is completed with a description of the student's involvement in the his local Kappa Beta Delta chapter.

    Recognition

    • Winners of the Andrew V. Stevenson Merit Scholarship for Kappa Beta Delta members are invited to attend the ACBSP National Conference, which is held in a different location each year. The students are given recognition at the conference during the meeting of the associate degree members.
