Military Spouse Scholarships

In honor of the commitment and sacrifice that military service members offer to their country, there are a number of scholarship programs available for their spouses to help ease the burden of paying for a college education. Scholarship opportunities exist for spouses of all members of the military including those who are on active duty, disabled or retired.
  1. Army Aviation Association Scholarships

    • The Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) provides scholarships to current and deceased members of the association. Scholarships may be used for undergraduate or graduate studies at accredited colleges and universities, and awards are granted on the basis of academic merit, extracurricular involvement and financial need. As of 2010, the minimum award is $1,000 and the amount of the scholarships vary based on available funding.

    WGU Military Spouses to Graduates Scholarship

    • Western Governors University offers $1,500 scholarships to the spouses of active duty, reserve and National Guard members who are interested in pursuing a degree online. Students who are interested in degrees in business, teaching, health professions or information technology are encouraged to apply.

    Tillman Military Scholars Program

    • The Tillman Military Scholars Program provides scholarships for the spouses of active-duty and veteran personnel from all branches of the military including the National Guard, Coast Guard and Reserves. Scholarships may be used toward undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs at accredited colleges and universities. The award amount varies and applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, career goals, community service and financial need.

    Army Scholarship Foundation Awards

    • The Army Scholarship Foundation oversees six scholarship programs for the spouses of active-duty Army and Army Reserve members as well as active-duty National Guardsmen. Spouses must be under 30 years of age to be eligible and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Scholarship awards range from $500 to $2,000 and may be applied toward undergraduate tuition at accredited institutions.

    Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarship

    • The Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarship provides scholarships to spouses of active-duty, retired, Reserve, National Guard and deceased military service members. Scholarships may be used to fund a wide range of degree programs, including GED, vocational, technical, ESL (English as a second language), undergraduate and graduate studies. Students are selected to receive the $1,000 award based on academic achievement and financial need.
