Sponsored by the National Military Family Association, the Joanne Holbrook Patton Scholarship is available to wives of active duty, retired, National Guard, and reserve members of the armed services. The program offers $500 and $1,000 scholarships which may be used to fund tuition, fees, and room and board for GED or ESL programs, vocational training, professional certification, as well as post-secondary and graduate studies. Applicants must possess a current military ID and scholarships are awarded based on the completion of a survey, a series of short-answer questions, and a written essay.
The Army Scholarship Foundation offers several scholarships for military wives of active duty and active duty reserve soldiers as well as National Guardsman. Scholarships range from $500 to $2,000, and potential applicants must be a high school graduate or currently enrolled at an accredited college or vocational school. Additionally, scholarships are only available to wives younger than thirty years of age. Applicants must provide proof of their spouse's service, prior year's tax returns, and submit an essay as part of the application.
Park University offers multiple scholarships for the wives of active duty and reserve members of the armed services as well as tuition discounts of up to 25 percent for graduate studies. Park University has military campus centers across the country, and scholarships are awarded in amounts equivalent of up to fifteen course hours per semester.
The General Emmett Paige Scholarship is available to wives of active duty servicemen and/or veterans who are currently enrolled in an accredited four-year institution and carry a 3.4 GPA. Fifteen $2,000 scholarships are awarded annually, and funds may be used to cover tuition, fees, books, and room and board. Applicants are required to provide a certificate of service and current military ID.
The VADM E.P. Travers Scholarship and Loan program provides scholarships for the wives of active duty sailors and Marines. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,000, and low-interest loans are also offered in the amount of $3,000 for those who do not meet the scholarship requirements. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited technical, vocational, or four-year institution, carry a minimum 2.0 GPA, and have a demonstrated financial need.
