This is the Rotary's oldest and best known scholarship program, begun in 1947. More than 38,000 men and women have participated in the program, which has involved more than 100 different countries. The scholarship is designed for under-graduates, grad students and some vocational students who plan to study abroad with the purpose of growing international relations and building friendships with other cultures and geographic areas. While serving overseas, scholars will give presentations to the host country's Rotary organization and serve as a goodwill ambassador for their homeland. Application deadlines run from March to September for scholarships awarded the following February. Applicants should apply through their local Rotary club.

About 100 Fellowships are awarded each year for six Rotary Peace Centers operated on seven different campuses throughout the world.
