Colleges That Offer Athletic Scholarships for Women

According to the National College Athletic Association (NCAA), every year more than 126,000 student-athletes receive a partial or full athletic scholarship to a Division I or Division II school. Each individual college or university independently awards scholarships to their institution.

The New York Times reports that, as of 2008, the average NCAA athletic scholarship was around $8,707 (when not including football and basketball), while the tuition and room and board at NCAA schools can cost between $20,000 and $50,000 annually. The good news? The same article reports that in 11 of the 14 scholarship sports with both men's and women's teams, the women's teams received a higher amount of money per athlete.
