Saskatchewan Government Scholarships

Financing a post-secondary education can be challenging, but there are scholarship options available to students who qualify. Scholarships are offered by governments, private corporations, charitable funds and the learning institutions themselves. Check with the school you plan to attend to see a full list of scholarship options available.
  1. Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship

    • This $20,000 scholarship is awarded to graduate or post-graduate students studying Saskatchewan politics or government at any university in Saskatchewan. The $20,000 award may be given to one student or split between a number of students. You must include an outline of your planned thesis when applying for this scholarship. The application is sent to the Saskatchewan university where the student has applied.

    Queen Elizabeth II Centennial Aboriginal Scholarship

    • This $20,000 scholarship is awarded to First Nations or Métis graduate students studying at any university in Saskatchewan. The $20,000 award may be given to one student or split between a number of students and is available for graduate students from any field. Students must have earned their bachelor's degrees from a university in Saskatchewan and preference is given to students who have studied at the First Nations University of Canada. You must include an outline of your planned thesis when applying for this scholarship. The application is sent to the Saskatchewan university where the student has applied.

    Saskatchewan Scholarship of Honor

    • This is a $5000 scholarship awarded to members of the Canadian Armed Forces or their family members. To qualify for this scholarship you must have served in a Canadian military operation after January 2001 or be the spouse or child of a Saskatchewan member of the Canadian Armed Forces who was permanently disabled or killed in military operations after January 2001. A military employment record and/or medical records must be submitted with the application.

    Centennial Merit Scholarship

    • This scholarship is awarded to high-achieving students from Saskatchewan high schools and is managed by individual post-secondary institutions. The funding and requirements differ depending on where you study. For example, the University of Regina Centennial Merit Scholarship is a $2,000 award given to students from Saskatchewan high schools with graduating averages higher than 92%. There is no application necessary as eligibility is determined during the college admissions process.

    D.R. Simmons Memorial Scholarships

    • This scholarship awards two annual prizes of $500 to First Nations or Métis students who are pursuing education at the post-secondary level.

    James Dickson Scholarship

    • This is a $500 scholarship awarded to a student with black ancestry who is graduating from a Saskatchewan high school.

    Doreen Kronick Matching Scholarship

    • This is a $500 Canadian scholarship awarded to students in academic areas that will lead to careers helping those with learning disabilities. If the student is a Saskatchewan resident and studying at a Saskatchewan university, the government of Saskatchewan will add another $500 to the award.
