Spelman College in Atlanta, GA has received $1 million worth of grant money that is to be awarded to African-American women who enroll into Spelman College as a Science and Engineering major. The donation was made by Exxonmobil to increase the number of black female engineers in the workforce. Applicants must be female high school seniors, maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and score either a 1650 on their SAT or a 25 on their ACT.

Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts has instituted a grant for women called the Davis Degree Program. The program is designed to give financial aid to adult women who are beyond traditional college student age. Applicants must be over the age of 30, female, and complete over 32 units of coursework at Wellesley College to be eligible for financial aid.
