The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board offers scholarships for incoming dental students, male and female. The Dental Education Loan Repayment Program pays back students' loans if they work at least one year in an undeserved area in Texas, as determined by the governing board. Students can reapply for up to five years for the awards, which range up to $10,000 annually. Seven candidates received this award in 2009.

United Concordia Dental provides dental scholarships for women and minorities in Texas and across the United States. The insurance company created this scholarship program to attract a more diverse population to the field of dentistry. Last year, two female students in Texas each won a $2,500 one-time scholarship. The dollar amount depends on the school and the area of focus Concordia has chosen for that year. Students must submit transcripts, essays and letters of reference.
