Student Charity Grants

There are many grants available for college students from various charities. Thanks to the generosity of these charities, finding a way to pay for school has never been easier. There are grants for specific life situations, fields of study or religious affiliations, need-based awards for those that demonstrate financial need and merit-based scholarships for the academically gifted. The Salvation Army is a particularly good charitable grant resource. It's really just a matter of finding the best grant to suit your needs and doing everything you can to ensure you get it.
  1. Salvation Army Advisory Board Scholarship

    • The Salvation Army Advisory Board Scholarship is offered to an outstanding student attending Alfred State College in New York. To qualify, you must be pursuing a degree in the field of either nursing or human services, be ranked in at least the upper 50 percent of your class, be financially needy and demonstrate strong leadership skills. Additionally, students must submit two letters of recommendation and a five hundred word essay describing themselves and their educational and career goals. The award amount varies, but is generally between $1,000 and $3,000 per academic year.

    D.J. 's Hero Awards

    • The D.J. 's Hero Awards are offered to deserving students in Nebraska by the Salvation Army. To qualify, you must be between the ages of seventeen and nineteen, be active in your community, have an impeccable academic record and have excellent civic and leadership qualities. The award amount is $5,000 per academic year.

    Salvation Army Houston Scholarships

    • The Salvation Army Houston Scholarships are offered to students attending college in the Houston, Texas area. To qualify, you must be academically successful, you must participate in the Houston area Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club and you must exhibit excellent leadership qualities. Each year, more than $26,000 is awarded to applicants. The average award amount is $2,000.

    Cain Scholarship Fund

    • The Cain Scholarship Fund is available to students attending Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. To qualify, you must be a resident of Nueces County, be pursuing an associate's, vocational or bachelor's degree, must demonstrate financial need and you must write an essay and submit two letters of recommendation. The award amount is $5,000.
