Capture the Dream is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2006 to help young people and low-income families achieve their goals. The Single Parent Scholarship offers $1,000 to California residents who are single parents and currently enrolled or planning to enroll at a two- or four-year college.

Patsy Takemoto Mink was the first woman of color to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives, and a scholarship was established in her name in 2003. Five Education Support Awards of up to $2,000 are given to low-income women with children. Applicants must be at least 17 with minor children. They must be enrolled in a GED or English as a second language program, skills training or a degree program.

The NCJW/LA offers two scholarships for women who live or attend college in the Los Angeles area, and students do not have to be Jewish to be eligible. The Sol Goldberg Childcare Subsidy is awarded to parents to assist with childcare costs while they attend school. The Samuel Schulman Memorial Scholarship is for single mothers entering or continuing education.

The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund was established in 1990 to assist single parents with college tuition. To be eligible, a student must be a low-income, single parent who is a resident of Arkansas and does not already hold a four-year degree.

The Hispanic College Fund offers a Single Parent Scholarship together with Denny's Restaurant. Eligible students must be U.S. residents who are single parents in financial need and have earned at least a 3.0 GPA. The student must also be planning to attend college full-time in the coming year.
