How to Pass a Seventh Grade Math TAKS Test

Most students get tested every year by taking a state test. The TAKS test is the test that Texas gives to its students from elementary through 12th grade. There are ways to prepare for this math test. The first thing a student must do is keep up with their math class because it is nearly impossible to lag behind and be ready for testing time.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull out your seventh grade math book and look through the main topics. These books cover geometry, fractions, conversions of time and measurements, graphs, money, a little statistics, percentages, ratios and probability.

    • 2

Give a practice math TAKS test to the student to do. The student will need a tutor or someone familiar with the math to grade the test.

    • 3

Note where the student is having problems. Maybe it is ratios, percentages, money or keeping straight mean, mode, median or range.

    • 4

Go to the areas of the student's textbook that focus on the area the student is having problems with. Study these sections. Answers in the back of the book guide the student.

    • 5

Work with the student if she is having difficulties. Hire a math tutor if necessary.

    • 6

Keep working with the student by providing her with the time to study and someone to ask questions of and get answers. Repeat with other samples of TAKS test or the same one until the student can work the problems.
