How to Find ASVAB Scores

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multi-aptitude test for those interested in joining the military to help determine military occupations. The test is comprised of, but not limited to, General Science, Mathematics, Word Knowledge, Coding Speed and Electronics Information. It is important to do well on this test so that you have more career options once you enlist in your respective military branch. Computing your score is easy, and will help you determine the percentile you place into based on your scores.

Instructions

    • 1

Take a practice ASVAB test, so you can determine your scores and find where additional practice is needed.

    • 2

Look up your scores for Mathematics Knowledge, Word Knowledge, Arithmetic Reasoning and Paragraph Comprehension. These four tests will help you determine your Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT), which is an important aspect of the ASVAB to continue on in the process. (See References.)

    • 3

Add your Word Knowledge Score (WK) with the Paragraph Comprehension (PC) score.

    • 4

Compare the sum of the WK and PC scores to the Verbal Expression (VE) Chart in your practice booklet or recruiting station. This will be the total Verbal Expression score.

    • 5

Determine the raw AFQT score for your overall ASVAB test by doubling the Verbal Expression score and adding it to the sum of the Mathematics Knowledge (MK) and Arithmetic Reasoning (AR).

    • 6

Compare the overall raw score of your test to the percentile range, to determine where you fall compared to other potential recruits who have taken the same test. For example, if your raw score was 50, your score was 50-percent better than others who took the same test.
