How to Increase an ASVAB Score

The Armed Services Vocation Aptitude Battery, or ASVAB, is a free test sponsored by the Department of Defense and is required by the U.S. Armed Forces for all potential recruits. The results of the exam are used to determine the best military occupation for the candidate. Lasting approximately three hours, the standardized test can be administered as either a written or a computerized exam and covers many subject areas including science, arithmetic, reasoning, comprehension, electronics and mechanics.

According to the Department of Defense, the ASVAB test is administered annually at over 14,000 schools across the United States. It is also given at Military Entrance Processing Stations. There are no passing or failing scores, but a minimum score is required by each branch for entry into service. The higher your score, the more options for job placement you will have as a military recruit.
