Read through information booklets provided by the Texas Education Agency. Resources are provided for students and parents to help test takers prepare for the exam. The information booklets for each subject will explain exactly what is expected of the student.
Allow ample time to study before the exam day. As with any exam, preparation is key to getting a passing score. Set aside time each week to prepare for the test instead of cramming in the few days before the exam. The TAKS testing dates are provided by the school, so you can be as prepared as possible for the test.
Practice taking the test over and over using a Released Test, provided by the agency. Every three years, the TAKS test is released so students may study for it. If you are taking the test for a second time or more, using the test to study will help raise your score for the next test.
Print out study guides to help you focus on areas in which you didn't do so well on the first exam. For example, if you did poorly on the math portion of the exam on the first test, print out and use the study guide to practice all math problems for your grade level or exit exam to pass it the next time around.
