The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) is a standardized test used in Texas public school districts to measure individual and statewide performance in various subjects. As with most standardized tests, results include raw scores and percentile rankings. Raw scores give the test taker a concrete number that reflects the student's performance. Percentiles measure how often a specific score occurs in the distribution of all scores. For example, if you score in the 90th percentile, you have scored higher than 90 percent of all the test takers. To measure percentiles, you must correctly interpret a frequency distribution chart.
