How to Find GRE Scores

The GRE, or Graduate Record Examination, is a difficult standardized test required by many graduate programs. The GRE has several different sections, including a writing section that is scored several weeks after the test is completed. Finding your GRE scores is relatively easy to do.

      Sign up for the GRE at least one month in advance. When you sign up, you will be required to give your complete contact information. Double check this to make sure it is correct.

      Take the GRE. Before you take the test, you will have to enter in your updated contact information. Enter your information, and double check to make sure it is accurate.

      To find your GRE scores online, create an account on the "My GRE Account" website. Once your account has been created, you can check to see if your test has been scored yet by left-clicking on "Test Results" on the right hand side of the page. GRE test scores are available on the "My GRE Account" website approximately 15 days after the GRE has been completed.

      To find your GRE scores by phone, call 1-888-473-7267. This phone number is toll free for test takers in the United States, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. Have your testing information ready, as well as a valid credit card. Follow the automated instructions to find out your score. Scores over the phone cost $12 to obtain.

      To find your GRE scores by mail, you will have to wait for them to arrive via mail to your listed home address. For computer-based GRE test takers, GRE scores are sent within 10 to 15 days after the GRE has been completed. For paper-based GRE test takers, scores are sent within six weeks of the completed GRE.
