Print out copies of the CRCT student guide and distribute them. These guides help students to anticipate the kind of information they will be tested on, and thus allow for more organized study sessions.
Assign the students to take several teacher-created practice tests using Georgia's Online Assessment System (OAS). The OAS allows students to take online tests which are tailored to model the actual CRCT. Once finished, the system provides immediate feedback regarding a student's performance. Follow the second link in the "Resources" section below to learn more about and access the OAS.
Acquire practice test booklets from the Georgia Department of Education or your local school district office. While online tests and study guides are beneficial in their own rights, passing out booklets and practicing actual test procedure will allow students to acclimate to the process. This helps make students more comfortable and less nervous in the actual testing environment.
Stress the importance of ample rest and good nutrition during the days before the test. A solid eight hours of sleep and a wholesome breakfast (bran cereal and fruit, for example) or lunch will ensure that the student has the fuel to perform well on the CRCT.
