Familiarize yourself with the ISEE. The test examines verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, math and writing with an essay component. The test is 30 minutes long.
Look over initial ISEE scores and discuss them with a professional. Identify problem areas in which to improve. For instance, a student may be fine with the essay component, but need work in math before the next test is taken.
Discuss test taking tactics. Students often benefit from a tactic in which they go through questions and answer the ones they know first, then go back and do problem questions afterward. This makes the best use of the time allotted for each section.

Use study guides to improve ISEE scores. Study guides provide areas in which students can concentrate that are based on the kinds of skills the test covers.
Engage a tutor service. There are online tutoring services, preparation classes to improve ISEE scores in many communities and one-on-one tutors who are available.
