How to Take ACCP Tests

The American College of Clinical Pharmacy provides testing for certification in ambulatory care, nuclear pharmacy, oncology pharmacy, nutrition support pharmacy, pharmacotherapy and psychiatric pharmacy through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties. Exams for certification through the ACCP are given once a year, generally in October. In order to take an exam, you must have a degree from a pharmacy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.

      Navigate to the Board of Pharmacy Specialties website, http://www.bpsweb.org. Click "Exam" and "Register" from the home page. Enter your personal information in the "New Applicant Form," including your employer, licensure and credit card information, and click "Process application." As of April 2011, the fee for each examination is $600.

      Open the email sent by the Board of Pharmacy Specialists notifying if you will be able to sit for the exam. This notification will be sent within 20 days of your submitted application. If your application is incomplete, it will be returned to you without being processed. Applicants who are denied will be notified and the application fee will be fully refunded.

      Visit your exam location on the date of your scheduled test and complete your exam.
