How Do I Get the Underage Verification Form for My GED?

Underage verification forms are required for anyone age 16 or 17 who wants to take the General Education Development test. The GED is an alternative for students that do not graduate high school; with a GED you can apply to college and jobs that require a high school diploma. Before you can register to take the GED you must first obtain the underage verification form to present to the educational institution at which you will take the GED test.

Instructions

Obtain a student exemption from compulsory school attendance from the high school that you once attended. This form is provided by the counseling office at all high schools and can be obtained during school hours.

    • 2

Go to the school district offices in the county where you reside or to the testing center where you will take your GED test to obtain an underage verification form.

    • 3

Provide your photo identification or a certified copy of your birth certificate, as well as your student exemption from compulsory attendance while you are at the school district offices. Your parents must be present, with photo identification, to sign the UVF form with you. Once you submit these forms and sign the UVF you can take it with you to a testing center and obtain your GED.
