Locate study materials for the test. These come in the form of ASVAB study guides, such as ASVAB for Dummies, ASVAB Basics and ASVAB Power. The guides are available at book stores and many feature practice tests that will help gauge your overall readiness. Another source of study materials are high school level text books, as the test questions are based upon material from this level.
Set aside 20 to 30 minutes a day to practice each portion of the general science portion. If you are having more trouble with a certain section, give yourself more time with it than another portion that you are mastering.
Construct flash cards with pertinent information. Write down general science questions on one side and the answer on the other. Study the flash cards during your sessions or ask a friend to help quiz you on the material.
Take practice tests online. Several websites, including Kaplan Test Prep (kaptest.com), 4Tests (4tests.com) and Military (military.com), have practice questions that will help you gauge your readiness. Take the results from the test and use them to adjust your study habits. Time yourself while taking these tests and, as a general rule, do not take any longer than one minute on a given question.
