Know the categories on the test. The HSPT consists of five sections: verbal skills, quantitative skills, reading, math and language.
Take a practice exam. These practice tests are set up to give you an idea of what to expect during the test and allows you to see what areas you need to work on.
Concentrate on problem areas. You can not study every subject that will be on the test. You will want to concentrate your efforts on the areas that you find the most challenging.
Make flash cards. Flash cards are a proven study method that many students find helpful. Some online companies will even allow you to print out their pre-made flash cards for a small fee.
Buy a HSPT study guide. These test prep books are available at book stores and usually include several practice exams.
Find a study partner who can help quiz you as well as share their test taking strategies.
