How to Submit GRE Scores to a Graduate Program

Your score on the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) is an important part of your application to a university or college's graduate program. Ensure that the graduate program receives your GRE scores before the application deadline to avoid acceptance postponement.

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain the GRE institution codes for the graduate schools to which you are applying. These codes should be provided in the college's application packet. You can also find a listing of institutional codes on the GRE Web site.

    • 2

Bring the institution codes to your GRE testing location on the day of your exam. Having this list handy will help you avoid misreading names and codes printed in small font. If you are taking the computer-based GRE you will be able to look up the institution code on the computer.

    • 3

Call (888) GRE SCORE to request that additional score reports be sent to colleges. Be sure to have your GRE registration number, test date, date of birth and institution codes at hand. This service is available seven days a week between the hours of 6 am and 10 pm eastern time.

    • 4

Provide your payment information for additional score reports. Each additional score report will cost $15. This includes any request for your personal use.

    • 5

Order additional score reports in advance. Additional score reports are sent to colleges once a month. To ensure that your scores reach your graduate program by the application deadline, order the score report at least a month in advance.
