Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to study but you will also want to make sure that it is not cutting it close to the application deadline for your school.       After you have signed up for the test, you should look into purchasing some kind of study guide that will help you. Kaplan makes a great study guide for the GRE that includes vocabulary words, math formulas, and practice tests. If you don't purchase the book right away and use it, it will be very difficult score well on the GRE test.

      The next thing you will want to do is to in order to score well on the GRE test is to take a practice test right away. It is important to see how well you would do on the test without any studying. By taking a practice test, you are able to see what categories you excel at and what subjects you still need work.

      Now that you have identified what areas of the GRE test you need work in, you can target those areas and start studying. Remember, you shouldn't completely ignore the areas that you scored well in. It would still be a good idea to review all areas just to refresh yourself on the things that you already know.

For the vocabulary section of the GRE test, a good way to go about studying is to make flash cards.
